Combat Vision MMA spoke to Daniel Crawford after it was announced he would be fighting Damien “Frankenstein” Lapilus at BAMMA London on Friday 15th September 2017. Daniel heads into this fight on the back of a three-fight winning streak. Most recently, he knocked out Ronnie Mann at BAMMA 29 in May 2017.
Thank you for your to speak to Combat Vision MMA, Daniel. Could you tell us your thoughts on the fight being announced and how the fight came about.
“My thoughts are normal. It’s just another fight and the fight came about when I knocked out Ronnie Mann and it was the next logical fight”
You head into this fight on the back of a three-win streak after a loss back in 2015. What has sparked this rise in form and have you made any tweaks to your current style.
“No changes my loss didn’t come because of skill. But, because of preparation”
You are fighting for the BAMMA title in only your second fight with the promotion. How confident do you feel that you are ready for this step up and does your previous two professional title wins help you on how to mentally approach this fight.
“I’m very confident this is just another fight. There is no pressure, this isn’t a step up either, all fights are fights being on tv and having a belt is for promotion. I’m just going to get in there and do what I do best”
This will be Damien’s first defence of his BAMMA featherweight title. What are your thoughts on his recent performances and have you seen anything in his fighting style that you will be looking to exploit.
“His recent performances have been lacklustre. He won the title because he stuck to a game plan. I go in there and destroy my opponents, so if I see any weaknesses it will be his chin”
Could you give us an insight as to what the training camp will consist of for this fight and will you be focusing on anything in particular.
“My training camp will be normal, working with the guys I always work with and a possible trip to Team Alpha Male”
