Combat Vision MMA were lucky enough to speak to Alan “The Apprentice” Philpott after it was announced by BAMMA yesterday evening, that he would be fighting Shay Walsh for the vacant world bantamweight championship at BAMMA 30 in Dublin.
Combat Vision MMA asked Alan on his thoughts on the fight being announced and how happy was he to fight and hopefully win back his belt on home soil.
“I’m excited it’s been released, already there’s good vibes and hype building. I love fighting in the 3 Arena. The fans from north and south of Ireland are the best in the world. I get goosebumps thinking about walking out. Winning the world title there will be an amazing moment. Some of my best moments have been in there”
Combat Vision MMA asked Alan what he thought about his opponent Shay Walsh.
“It’s the only fight that makes sense. I have been watching Shay for years. I always seen him as one of the top guys at the lighter weights. But, I feel his time is up and it’s up to me to prove that. I’m on a different level now”
With regards to Shay’s last fight. Did Alan see anything in the performance or the fighting style that he would be looking to exploit come fight night.
“He had a hard fight with Aaron Blackwell. I expected more to be honest. I hope he brings his A game in our fight”
Alan was asked how he will tactically approach the fight with Shay.
“I’m gonna pick him apart, make him miss and finish him or maybe take him down and finish him there. It just depends on how I feel. I will dictate where the fight goes”
